Rae Le Roy
Rae K. Le Roy (Kleban), 93, of Ewing died March 28, 2014. She was born in Millville and later moved to Trenton.
She graduated as the 1937 class valedictorian at Vineland High School. She enrolled in Rider Business School (which became Rider College and now Rider University).
Mrs. Le Roy worked for the federal government for several years before she and her husband, Gibson, founded Delaware Valley Letterservice, a printing and mailing company in Trenton, which they owned and operated for over 30 years. They purchased Grove Duplicating Company, which later grew to become DVL Printers and Mailers, Inc. Their business employed recently released prisoners and people from disadvantaged populations, and charged reduced rates for many causes and non-profit organizations. After they sold the company, Rae continued to independently consult as a printing broker until well into her 70s.
She was active in many organizations, including local and county PTAs. She was a life member of Deborah’s Trenton-Ewing chapter and devoted many years of service to the Deborah Hospital Foundation. She was currently serving as treasurer of Ewing Township’s Club D and the Golden Age Club of the Jewish Community Center of the Delaware Valley. She received recognition for tutoring students at Lore Elementary School from the Ewing Board of Education, and served on the Ewing Mayor’s Senior Citizen Advisory Commission, where she was recently reappointed as chairperson.
Predeceased by her husband, she is survived by her son, Donald V. of Doylestown, Pa.; her daughter, J. Marcia Le Roy Berry (Ken) of Carlisle, Pa.; and a brother, Abe Kleban of Vineland.
Services were held April 3 with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Poverty Law Center, 400 Washington Ave., Montgomery, AL 36104 and the Deborah Hospital Foundation, 200 Trenton Road, Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
