Rosalind Friedlander
Rosalind “Rye” Friedlander, 97, of Pompton Plains died Oct. 3, 2014. Born in the Bronx, she grew up in Glen Ridge. She moved to Pompton Plains in 2001.
She graduated from high school in Glen Ridge.
Mrs. Friedlander was a homemaker and a Boy Scout den mother who participated extensively in her children’s activities. She later worked as a bookkeeper in Gruber’s in West Orange.
After their retirement, she and her husband took up square dancing, traveling three times a week to participate with a variety of dance groups. She also became active in the West Orange seniors’ group, holding several board positions.
Predeceased by her husband, Lew, in 1996, whom she married in 1940, she is survived by her son, Roger; her daughter, Jill; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 5 with arrangements by Tuttle Funeral Home, Randolph. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
