Ruby Goodman
Ruby Goodman (Leder), 80, of Jersey City died April 15, 2014. Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Jersey City and Houston for nine years before returning to Jersey City in 1987.
Mrs. Goodman began her career as a substitute teacher in Jersey City. She later worked in banking in Houston and at the Hertz Corporation in New York City before taking a position as assistant director of human resources for the Archdiocese of Newark, where she worked for over 15 years before retiring 15 years ago.
She received a BA in education from Jersey City State College (now New Jersey City University).
She was a member of Congregation B’nai Jacob, Jersey City, for many years and volunteered at CONTACT, the city’s hotline service.
She is survived by two sons, David (Edna) of Springfield and Martin of Jersey City; her daughter, Lori Goodman of Manhattan; a sister, Sandra LoGuidici of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held April 18 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield.
