Ruth A. Gordon

Ruth A. (Abramson) Gordon, 94, of Highland Park died Jan. 3, 2012. Born in Hudson County, she lived in El Paso, Texas, and New Brunswick before settling in Highland Park 57 years ago.

Mrs. Gordon was employed by the English Department at New Brunswick High School and later worked as a library assistant at Middlesex County College for more than 20 years. She was an active PTA member for many years while her children were in school.

Mrs. Gordon was one of the oldest living members of Congregation Poile Zedek, New Brunswick, and its sisterhood. She was also a lifetime member of Hadassah.

Predeceased by her husband, Sam, in 1974, and her son, Neil, in 1977, she is survived by two daughters, Deborah Dorfman of Highland Park, and Jean of Montrose, NY; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 4 with arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick. Memorial donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, Congregation Poile Zedek, or the charity of your choice.
