Ruth T. Sigman

Ruth T. Sigman, 85, of Verona died Dec. 10, 2010. She was born and raised in Brooklyn.

Mrs. Sigman began her long career as a buyer for Lord & Taylor following high school. She opened The Other Place, a women’s clothing store, in Verona before cofounding Zina’s Salads, where she continued working until her death.

She was a very active member of Temple Sholom of West Essex, Cedar Grove, where she and her husband were charter members. She was lead vocalist in its choir and past president of the sisterhood.

Predeceased by her husband, Stanley, she is survived by her son, Mark; and two daughters, Gail Gold and Dian Weisman; a sister, Beatrice Rogers; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 14 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sigman Music Fund at Temple Sholom.
