Samuel Friedman

Samuel Friedman, 100, of Rio Verde, Ariz., died Oct. 19, 2019. He lived in West Orange before moving to Arizona 15 years ago.

Mr. Friedman had a long career as a federal credit union auditor.

He served as a sergeant in the Army Air Corps in World War II as an air traffic controller from 1942 to 1946.

He was an award-winning painter who enjoyed family, music (as an improvisational pianist), baseball, and travel.

Predeceased in 2003 by his wife, Sylvia, he is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Friedman (Kevin Gould) and Linda Friedman (Laurence) Thomas; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services were held Oct. 27 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Valley or Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ.
