Samuel Gulkin
Samuel Gulkin, 78, of Springfield died Feb. 5, 2014. Born in Newark, he lived in Springfield for the past 44 years.
Mr. Gulkin was the administrator for Universal Laboratories in Brooklyn for 20 years, retiring eight years ago. He also was a part owner of a pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Massachusetts for several years. Previously, he was in pharmaceutical sales with both Johnson and Johnson and McNeil Labs.
He earned a BA from Fairleigh Dickinson University after attending the University of Michigan. He was a member of the AEPi Fraternity and remained an active alumni brother, supporting their philanthropic endeavors.
While still in high school he began serving in the National Guard and continued to do so for eight years before going on to serve the Guard for two years as a civilian employee.
Predeceased by his wife, Anita (Kurman), he is survived by his sister, Mona (Daniel) Talarsky; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Services were held Feb. 6 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave., 5th floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
