Selma Dubnick

Selma B. Dubnick, 95, of Old Tappan, formerly of Livingston, died March 24, 2018. 

As a mother of four adolescents, Mrs. Dubnick returned to college, earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in counseling at Kean College in Union, and went on to become director of graduate studies at Kean College (now Kean University). A staunch advocate for the mentally ill, she was a cofounder of the family organization of the Mid-Bergen Community Mental Health Center in Paramus (now CarePlus NJ), a long-time board member of the CarePlus Foundation, and an active member of Temple Emanuel of Pascack Valley in Woodcliff Lake. She was also avidly interested in the arts, politics, and world affairs. 

She established scholarships at Kean University and The CarePlus Foundation. 

Predeceased by her husband, Bernard, in 2002, she is survived by her children, Ruth Levy, Joshua Dubnick, Deborah Levy, and Jeffrey Dubnick; and three grandchildren. 

Services were held March 26 with arrangements by Robert Schoem’s Menorah Chapel, Paramus. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dubnick Annual Scholarship for Single Mothers with Dependent Children at Kean University Foundation or the Dubnick Scholarship at CarePlus Foundation.
