Selma Rosen

Selma Rosen (Kremer), 96, of Union died Jan. 20, 2013. Born in Brooklyn, she also had resided in Queens before moving to New Jersey.

Mrs. Rosen was a Hebrew school teacher and later was a schoolteacher for 14 years for the Newark Board of Education.

She attended Brooklyn College and the Bank Street School of Education in New York City, receiving bachelor’s degrees in education and psychology. She also received a degree from the Jewish Theological Seminary.

She was a lifetime member of Hadassah and a board member of Congregation B’nai Ahavath Shalom in Union. She was also active in the JMHA, Union, and a member of Union Township Senior Citizen Activities.

Predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Jacob S., in 1994, and her son, Jonathan in March 2011, she is survived by her daughter Rena (Amiran) Samin of Brooklyn, and two grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 21 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
