Sidney Friedenberg

Sidney Friedenberg, 73, of Boynton Beach, Fla., died Sept. 21, 2014. Born in Newark, he also lived in Livingston for many years before retiring to Florida.

Mr. Friedenberg taught in the Newark and Livingston school systems for 35 years. He coached varsity swimming at Livingston High School for many years and was a high school football referee for over 40 years in New Jersey and Florida.

He was a graduate of Weequahic High School in Newark and Newark State College, where he received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Helen; a sister, Susan Major (William); and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held Sept. 28 with arrangements by Beth Israel Memorial Chapel, Boynton Beach.
