Talking about Jewish law

Rabbi Mendy Kasowitz of Chabad of West Orange will lead “Captivating Cases in Rabbinic Responsa,” a new six-session course from the Jewish Learning Institute. The CLE-accredited course aims to explore how Jewish law has addressed complex, real-life questions across centuries and cultures.

It begins on January 21, at 7:30 p.m. Each session features cases drawn from rabbinic responsa — written legal rulings — that show how leading rabbinic authorities applied timeless halachic principles to evolving circumstances.

The course offers CLE credits for attorneys in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. It’s open to adults of all ages; no background in Hebrew or Judaism or synagogue affiliation is required to attend.

Register at chabadwestorange.com/JLI. For questions, email Rabbi Kasowitz at rabbi@chabadwestorange.com or call (973) 325-6311.
