Dave Lieberfarb gives a talk on “March Sports” as part of a series, “Congregants Teaching Congregants,” at Temple Sholom in Scotch Plains, on Sunday, March 2, at 10 a.m. Mr. Lieberfarb, a proofreader for the New Jersey Jewish News, is a former copy editor for The Star-Ledger.

His talk will focus on the NCAA college basketball tournament, better known as March Madness, and the growth of the tournament, including some of the highlights of New Jersey’s top teams in past years and their chances this year. He also will talk about baseball and the MLB season, including its earliest start ever next month — in Tokyo — and will include a brief review of the Yankees’ and Mets’ 2024 seasons and 2025 prospects.

As an undergraduate at Rutgers University, Mr. Lieberfarb covered sports for the Daily Targum and the Newark Evening News. He’s published articles about sports in the Star-Ledger and various other publications, including Inside Jersey magazine.

Coffee, tea, and light breakfast items will be available. All are welcome to attend; there is no cost, but RSVPs are appreciated to office@sholomnj.org or (908) 889-4900.
