NJJN’s editorial, wrongly calling Dianne Lob the “right choice” for chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations (the “CoP”), ignores the record of HIAS, whose board of directors she chaired (“Conference of Presidents names the right chair,” April 23). The CoP’s mission is to help Israel and the Jewish people. But resettlement contractor HIAS brought multiple lawsuits, promoted legislation, and ran PR campaigns to bring non-Jewish (mostly Muslim) refugees into the United States from Middle Eastern countries, where 74-93 percent of the population is anti-Semitic (according to the ADL Global 100 Anti-Semitism Index). No wonder Jew-hating, Israel-basher Linda Sarsour has fundraised for HIAS.
In Israel, HIAS’ primary activity has been opposing, protesting, and undermining Israel’s efforts to contend with and repatriate illegal, non-Jewish Eritrean migrants who have preyed on elderly South Tel Aviv residents.
HIAS has also been “collaborating” (HIAS’ term) with Islamic Relief USA — the American branch of Islamic Relief Worldwide, designated by Israel and the UAE as a terrorist organization and involved in funneling funds to Hamas; CAIR — an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial also involved in funneling money to Hamas; and anti-Semitic UN agencies, which HIAS relies on for its refugee streams.
HIAS also signed joint letters with CAIR, MPAC (which opposes Israel’s existence), and hostile-to-Israel nominally “Jewish” groups such as JVP and IfNotNow. HIAS also joined J Street in publicly defending terrorist-embracing, Farrakhan-loving Linda Sarsour.
