Theodore Spitz

Theodore S. Spitz, 88, of Cranford died April 19, 2018. He was born in the Bronx. 

Mr. Spitz had been offered an instructor’s position at New York University, but accepted a full fellowship at Curtis Wright instead. In 1957, he accepted a position at RCA, where he worked on a team developing micro-modules, the predecessor to integrated circuits.

He held a patent for aircraft simulator equipment, and also traveled to Taiwan with the first computer test equipment, which he developed.

He graduated from Bronx High School of Science, and earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from New York University in electrical engineering.

He served in the Army.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Madeline (Schultz); his son, Joel (Keri) of Towaco; his daughter, Naomi (Mark) of North Easton, Pa.; a sister, Laura; and four grandchildren.

Services were held April 22 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or Friends of the Cranford Library, Cranford.
