Volunteer opportunities at JFSCNJ
Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey’s “Lavy House Live” series offers “Volunteer Opportunities for All Ages at JFSCNJ,” on Wednesday, February 21, at 11 a.m., at the Lavy House in Westfield. It’s an inside look at the wide variety of volunteer opportunities available at JFSCNJ for people of all ages.
Check out meaningful ways to celebrate a bar/bat mitzvah, work at the JFS Food Pantry or Urban Garden in Elizabeth, learn about programs for tutoring children or adult literacy, explore the social day program in Scotch Plains for people with memory loss, become a Friendly Visitor helping an older adult or Holocaust survivor, or organize a project to benefit community members. Staff will be on hand to work with your particular interests, time commitment, and availability.
Danielle McLeer, the director of outreach and volunteers; Kathleen Fernandez, the food pantry coordinator; and garden coordinator Evely Colon-Coleman will discuss their programs and offerings.
The program is funded by the Lavy House and the Standish Foundation. Kosher light refreshments will be served, and there’s ample parking in Temple Emanu-El’s lot. To register, email info@jfscentralnj.org or call (908) 352-8375.
