William Greenberg

William Greenberg died April 20, 2013. Born in Newark, he lived in Irvington, Clark, and Whippany before moving to West Orange two years ago.

Mr. Greenberg worked as a warehouse and pharmacy manager for Leonard Wholesale Drugs for almost 30 years, and briefly owned his own pharmacy as well.

He was a graduate of Weequahic High School in Newark.

He was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant. He saw action in the European Theater in Belgium, France, and Germany as a radio technician and an air and artillery spotter. He received the Victory and European Theater medals.

He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows, Mt. Sinai Lodge of Essex and Union Counties. He was also a member of the Wainwright Street Synagogue of Newark and Congregation Ahavath Achim Bikor Cholim of Irvington for many years.

Predeceased by his wife, Cecelia (Goldberg), he is survived by two sons, Sanford and Michael.

Services were held April 20 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Whippany.
