Zelma Shaiman

Zelma L. Shaiman of Springfield died May 28, 2019. Born and raised in Newark, she moved to West Orange in 1972 and lived there until 2010, when she moved to Springfield.

Mrs. Shaiman had worked for the American Red Cross after graduating high school. After becoming a wife and mother, she became the proprietor of The Everything Store in Newark with her husband Morris.

She graduated from Central High School in Newark.

She was a member of AMIT and Congregation Ahawas Achim B’nai Jacob & David (AABJ&D) and was involved in the senior groups at AABJ&D, Congregation Israel, and Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael.

Predeceased by her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Bruce) Steiner of Springfield; her son, Steven (Rebecca) of Livingston; and four grandchildren.

Services were held May 29 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Israel Shiva Fund or Jewish National Fund.
