Donald Myers

Donald Myers, 87, of North Miami Beach died Dec. 16, 2017. He was born in Brooklyn and moved to Newark after his marriage in 1955, eventually moving to Roselle and then to Florida in 2001. 

Mr. Myers was in private practice for almost 40 years, during which time he served as prosecutor and municipal court judge. 

He graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School, attended Seton Hall University, and was a member of the first graduating class of Seton Hall Law School, where he also received his JD degree. 

He was a Boy Scout Leader and greatly involved in the Jewish community. He served the Anti-Defamation League, and was a speaker for State of Israel Bonds, for which he helped raise funds and was honored for his years of devotion. He rose through the ranks of B’nai B’rith, serving as president of the Elizabeth Lodge and eventually becoming president of District III, which encompassed New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. He then was elected as international vice president. He was also president for six years of Suburban Jewish Center Mekor Chayim of Linden (now Temple Beth-El Mekor Chayim in Cranford). After moving to Florida, he became president of his condominium association, where he served for 12 years.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elaine (Kesselhaut); his son, Rabbi Jeffrey (Janice); his daughter, Amy (Jeffrey) Friedman; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

Private services were held with arrangements by Roth-Goldsteins’ Memorial Chapel, Atlantic City.
