Educators offered course on antisemitism
In February, the Rutgers Bildner Center offers “The History of Antisemitism — A Contemporary Problem with a Long History,” a free three-session online mini-course that explores the historical evolution of antisemitism from antiquity to the present. It’s for middle and high school teachers with at least one year of teaching experience and will be held on February 4, 11, and 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. Participants will gain context to understand recurring tropes, Jewish responses across eras, and modern manifestations, equipping them to lead informed classroom discussions. It will be taught by Dr. Daniel Ross Goodman, a professor of Jewish thought and theology at St. John’s University and the Allen and Joan Bildner Visiting Scholar at Rutgers. Pedagogical discussions will be led by award-winning teacher Colleen Tambuscio, founder of the New Jersey Council of Holocaust Educators.
Educational materials are included and participants can earn six hours of continuing education credit. The course is sponsored by the Allen and Joan Bildner Center for the Study of Jewish Life and the Herbert and Leonard Littman Families Holocaust Resource Center at Rutgers University. Registration is due by January 30; go to BildnerCenter.Rutgers.edu. For information, email Sarah.Portilla@rutgers.edu or go tobildnercenter.rutgers.edu
