In response to the October 7 massacres and the war with Hamas, Friends of the IDF sponsored Yom HaZikaron events in Jewish communities throughout the country. Locally, FIDF-sponsored ceremonies were held in Livingston and East Brunswick.

The initiative will bring Israel’s Day of Remembrance to Americans across the nation, enabling them to stand together and with Israel in solidarity.

In an effort to honor the memories of the more than 600 IDF soldiers who have been killed in the last seven months, and to offer support to their families, FIDF has documented their biographies and has posted them at fidf.org/hallofcourage. Readers can learn about their lives and light online candles honoring them; they also are encouraged to submit condolences to their survivors.

The IDF has designated the FIDF as the only organization in the United States authorized to raise funds for the soldiers. FIDF acts according to the requirements of the IDF’s Manpower Directorate in responding to those needs that the IDF deems most urgent. Since the start of the war, funds have been directed to lifesaving medical supplies, such as ambulances, blood plasma, and medical devices, as well as hygiene kits for soldiers in the field, aid for thousands of bereaved families and emergency support for lone soldiers. Tens of millions of dollars have been transferred to the IDF to meet critical needs for its soldiers following the Oct. 7 terror attacks. Go to FIDF.org for information.
