High Holy Days in Northwest New Jersey
The Chabad Center of Northwest NJ in Rockaway Township will conduct lively High Holy Days services that are open to the community. Rosh Hashanah starts at sunset on Monday, September 22, and continues through nightfall on September 24. Yom Kippur starts before sunset on Wednesday, October 1, and continues through nightfall October 2.
“Our Chabad Center has always maintained a strong welcoming policy,” Rabbi Asher Herson, the Chabad Center’s regional director, said. “Services are open to everyone, regardless of affiliation, background or financial means. Our services are user-friendly and easy to follow so that everyone can feel comfortable. This is how our satellite centers in Mountain Lakes, Montville, Randolph, Budd Lake, Berkshire Valley, and Sparta operate as well. Anyone is welcome to join us for a warm and uplifting High Holiday experience.”
“There’s an exciting youth program concurrent to the adult services, so that children can find personal meaning in the holiday as well, Rabbi Mendel Stiefel, the center’s youth director, said. “It’s essential that children know that they are loved, wanted and appreciated. Children must feel their treasured role as an integral part, and the future, of our people.”
As it has done for the last 37 years, the Chabad Center will also provide a home or hospital visitation service with shofar blowing for people who are unable to attend a synagogue.
