In your March 20 Kolbo column, you mention two of the rabbis named by the Forward as being among the 28 chosen as “America’s Most Inspiring Rabbis.” Although he is not the child of a rabbi, you might have also included Rabbi Jeffrey Arnowitz of Congregation Beth El, Norfolk, Va., because of his many MetroWest connections.
Rabbi Arnowitz was born at St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston and grew up in the White Meadow Lake section of Rockaway Township. He attended Hebrew school at White Meadow Temple, where he became a bar mitzva in 1988. After graduation from Morris Hills High School and the University of Pittsburgh, he entered the Jewish Theological Seminary. While there he served as a rabbinic intern at B’nai Shalom Jewish Center of West Orange with Rabbi Stanley Asekoff and at B’nai Israel in Millburn with Rabbi Steven Bayar.
Rabbi Arnowitz is married to the former Tamar Brendzel of Millburn.
