J. Donald London
J. Donald London, 91, of Boynton Beach, Fla., died June 17, 2012. He was a longtime resident of South Orange and moved to Boynton Beach after retiring in 1985.
Mr. London joined United Advertising in 1946. One of the oldest advertising agencies in New Jersey, it was established in 1918 by his father, Emanuel, who was later inducted into the New Jersey Advertising Hall of Fame. In 1950, Jack Williams, the president of Bamberger’s, joined the firm and the name was changed to Williams & London Advertising. He became president in 1956.
He was a graduate of Weequahic High School in Newark and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, class of 1942.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he served as a lieutenant senior grade in the Atlantic Theater for over three years.
An avid tennis, golf, and bridge player, he was a longtime member of Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell and Hunter’s Run Golf Club. He was a congregant of over 70 years of Temple B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Irma Mittelman London; his daughter, Lani Click of Jupiter, Fla.; his son, Thomas of Monmouth Beach; and four grandchildren.
Services were held June 21 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
