JSDD to hold fund-raising art gala

Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled of MetroWest, Inc., will host “Doorways to Infinite Possibility,” a fund-raising gala and art exhibit opening, on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at the JCC MetroWest’s Gaelen Gallery East in West Orange. The event will also serve as a celebration of its new future home in Livingston and the capital campaign that is currently underway.

Barry R. Mandelbaum of Mandelbaum Salsburg P.C. will be presented with the Outstanding Advocate and Humanitarian award, while Livingston Deputy Mayor Alfred Anthony will be honored for his work in Livingston in support of people with special needs and their families.

“This event will not only highlight these two exceptional men, their accomplishments, and their commitment to the Jewish principles of tikkun olam (repairing the world), it sheds a bright light on the work of JSDD in promoting ability,” said JSDD president Ellen Goldner. “The ‘Doorways to Infinite Possibility’ is the follow-up exhibition to the wildly successful Chairs of Inclusion project of 2014 — A Seat at the Table for Everyone — Shifting Perceptions of Ability, Art and Community.”

Professional auctioneer Steve Newmark will conduct the art auction, with proceeds to benefit the men and women served by JSDD. Kosher dietary laws will be observed. The cost is $225.
