Max Scheiner
Max Scheiner, 91, of Cranford died Feb. 18, 2016. Born in Newark, he lived in Union before moving to Cranford almost 60 years ago.
Mr. Scheiner had, for over 40 years, worked for Magla Products, a manufacturing company located originally in Newark, then in Irvington, and most recently in Chatham, as an inside sales representative, retiring in 1994.
He received a BA and an MA in accounting from Rutgers University’s Newark College of Arts and Sciences, and was, at the time of his death, taking courses in computer science at Union County College.
He served in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an airplane engine mechanic in the Pacific Theater, receiving the American Service, Asiatic Pacific Service, Good Conduct, and World War II Victory medals.
He was a member of B’nai B’rith #2093 of Union County, Temple Beth-El Mekor Chayim of Cranford and its men’s club, and The Poker Boys. He was an associate member of Hadassah.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet (Jacobs); his daughter, Susan (Andrew) Harrow of Apollo Beach, Fla.; his son, Steven (Sylvia) of Union; and eight grandchildren.
Services were held Feb. 21 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Center for Hope Hospice, 1900 Raritan Rd., Scotch Plains, NJ; Temple Beth-El Mekor Chayim; or Hadassah’s Tower Fund, PO Box 1100, New York, NY 10268-1100.
