Milton Palat

Dr. Milton Palat, 89, of Yardley, Pa., died Sept. 15, 2017. He was born in Trenton. 

Dr. Palat graduated from Trenton High School in 1945. He graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 1948 and Temple University’s Dental School in 1953. Deciding to specialize, he enrolled at New York University’s Dental School, completing post-graduate training in periodontia in 1972. He later returned to school and received his law degree from Rutgers University in 1981.

He served for two years as a captain in the U.S. Air Force. 

He had a dental and periodontal practice in Trenton for 35 years before retiring in 1987. He then joined the faculty of NYU Dental School, where he became chairman of periodontics in 1995. He taught multiple courses on periodontics and legal dentistry for NYU as well as Boston University. He was honored as teacher of the year on more than one occasion, and also published a legal dental journal, as well as multiple academic articles and textbook chapters.

He held prominent positions in state and national dental and periodontal societies. He retired from his multiple careers at the age of 84. 

He served as president of Adath Israel Congregation and was also chapter president of Israel Bonds as well as UJA Federation. 

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sally Greenberg Palat; his daughter, Pamela (Bruce) Wexler; his son, David (Wendy); a sister, Elaine; and four grandchildren. 

Services were held Sept. 18 with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing.
