NJBA holds 10th annual legislative/business luncheon
The New Jersey Jewish Business Alliance hosted its tenth annual Legislative and Business Luncheon at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark on August 6. It united business leaders, legislators, and community members to celebrate achievements and discuss key issues facing the Jewish business community.
Dr. Alan Kadish, the president of Touro College, gave the keynote address on the significance and evolution of Jewish life on campus. Members of Congress Tom Kean (R-N.J. Dist. 7) and Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J. Dist. 11) highlighted legislative initiatives and collaborative efforts aimed at supporting local businesses and enhancing economic growth in the state.
Ms. Sherrill emphasized the importance of staying strong in the face of antisemitism. “It truly is important to all work together for New Jersey,” she said. “Hate has no home here in the Garden State, and I vow to remain steadfast in my efforts to stand up to antisemitism, including by fighting for additional security resources for houses of worship, and by promoting Holocaust education for our young people. As we work to support our business community, we have to ensure that every business, business owner, and employee is safe.”
Mr. Kean and Ms. Sherrill gave a flag that had been flown over Congress to the event’s honorees, Ilan Kaufthal and Kevin O’Toole.
Mr. Kaufthal was recognized for his significant role in facilitating the transfer of a mobile hospital from New Jersey to Israel, a project the NJJBA arranged. Mr. O’Toole was honored for his outstanding work with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
“Ilan Kaufthal and Kevin O’Toole have made significant impacts in their respective fields, which are crucial to our business community,” David Rosenberg, the NJJBA’s executive director, said. “We are honored to recognize their efforts and are grateful to Dr. Kadish, Congressman Kean, and Congresswoman Sherrill for their invaluable contributions.” For more information, email Info@njjba.com.
