Pence supports Israel
NJJN’s editorial (“Pence and sensibility,” Jan. 25) is very disturbing. Vice President Mike Pence’s speeches during his Middle East tour were supportive of Israel and mentioned more than once how Israel is ready to make peace with the Palestinians. He reaffirmed Israel’s right to have a nation in its historic homeland.
Why does it bother NJJN that we have a vice president who supports Israel? Have you not noticed all the offers Israel made to the Palestinians over decades? Have you ever listened to the speeches Mahmoud Abbas makes to his own people, and his recent screed against Israel and the U.S.?
I was proud of Pence for standing with Israel and recognizing what Israel is contending with. I am glad our embassy is finally moving to Jerusalem, where it should have been all along. I agree with cutting funding to the Palestinians until they start using their resources to build things that are beneficial to the Palestinian people (such as hospitals) rather than using them for terrorism and tunnels. Just think how many good things could have been done with our hard-earned taxes; instead, my taxes have built tunnels and bought supplies for bombs to fight against my people.
I recommend “Harpoon” (Hachette Books, 2017) by Nitsana Darshan-Leitner and Samuel M. Katz, which informs readers about how money finances terrorism and wealthy lifestyles of those in control, such as Abbas, the late Yasser Arafat, and others.
It is time we woke up and acknowledged who really deserves our support: I support Israel.
