Stanley Grossel

Stanley S. Grossel, 85, of Clifton died March 16, 2014. He was born in Brooklyn and moved to Clifton in 1963. 

Mr. Grossel retired from Hoffman LaRoche in 1993 after 25 years and continued his professional career as a consultant and recognized expert in the areas of chemical manufacturing safety and loss prevention. 

He graduated from City College of New York in 1950 with a BS in chemical engineering, and received his MS in chemical engineering from Drexel University.

The recipient of the Mary Kay O’Connor Process Safety Award, he had scholarships established in his name at both NJIT and Stevens Institute of Technology. He was the author of numerous textbooks and wrote articles and book reviews for international chemical engineering publications.

He was an active member of Clifton Jewish Center and former member of Adas Israel in Passaic. He was also a member of B’nai B’rith and had served on the board of the Clifton/Passaic burial society.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pauline (Alshooler); his son, Martin (Cheryl); his daughter, Karen (Craig) Brandis; and four grandchildren.

Services were held March 18 with arrangements by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton.
