Teens sought for ‘18 Under 18’
Applications are being accepted through April 1 for “18 Under 18 Who Bring Jewish Learning to Life.”
The Partnership for Jewish Learning and Life is looking for middle school and high school students who live or attend school in the Greater MetroWest region to enter the competition to become part of the organization’s inaugural group of 18 Jewishly engaged young people.
Applicants will be challenged to explore in an essay the connections between their interests, hobbies, original programs, or activities and traditional or contemporary Jewish sources. An education coach will assist the teens in making the connections and in the writing process.
The chosen 18 will be awarded a $250 State of Israel Bond and will be honored at a banquet and in a supplement of New Jersey Jewish News.
“18 Under 18” is made possible by a grant from the Herb and Milly Iris Youth and Family Philanthropy Endowment of the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest NJ.
“Milly and Herb were giants in this community,” said Partnership executive director Robert Lichtman. “The Partnership is honored to introduce ‘18 Under 18’ as a tribute to their legacy.”
The application for “18 Under 18” and additional information are available at ThePartnershipNJ.org/18 or by contacting coordinator Shira Vickar-Fox at SVickar-Fox@ThePartnershipNJ.org or 973-929-2966.
