Union County Holocaust survivors welcomed at JFSCNJ program
On August 22, a group of Holocaust survivors from Union County and their caregivers joined JFS of Central New Jersey volunteers and staff for a Café Europa program. It was held in the Mitzi & Warren Eisenberg Multi-Purpose Center at the JFSCNJ Halpern Building in Elizabeth and included lunch and musical entertainment by Dave Beasley. Other survivors joined the program by livestreaming at home. Funds from the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest New Jersey allow JFS to use technology for the hybrid program.
Program helpers included JFS social worker Nathan Budashewitz; Greg Yucht, a JFS Russian-speaking social worker; Debbie Rosenwein, the director of Holocaust services at JFS, and volunteer Janet Jacobs.
Grant funders include the Wilf Family Foundations and the Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany. Funds from the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest New Jersey cover the cost of the technology that provides a hybrid Café Europa program to survivors.
