Walking for Israel

A “Walk for Israel” will be held on Sunday, May 13, 9:30-11 a.m. at Verona Park in honor of Yom Yerushalayim. Spearheaded by Congregation Ahawas Achim B’nai Jacob & David (AABJ&D) of West Orange’s Israel Action Committee, the event proceeds will benefit ZAKA, Israel’s primary rescue and recovery volunteer organization, a first responder to terror attacks, accidents, and disasters in Israel and globally.

Registration is at 9:30 a.m. and the walk will begin promptly at 10. The walk is 2.5 miles long. All participants will enjoy a light continental breakfast plus free giveaways, with a Mother’s Day surprise for all women.

“We have chosen ZAKA to be the beneficiary of the funds we raise at our walk. As a first responder, ZAKA is charged with the responsibility of saving lives,” said Barbara Muskin, chair of the Israel Action Committee at AABJ&D. “Just this month, ZAKA volunteers recently completed a rescue course at the IDF Home Front Command’s training center, joining hundreds of others, prepared to help IDF emergency forces during mass casualty incidents, building collapses, etc. However, beyond Israel, ZAKA’s rescue and recovery efforts extend worldwide, including helping out right here in Miami after Hurricane Irma.”
