THE TEEN FOUNDATION Board of the Westfield Area Youth Volunteer Experience (WAYVE) — coordinated by Jewish Family Service of Central NJ (JFS) and made possible through a grant from the Westfield Foundation — is accepting grant proposals from Union County-based charities for over $6,000 in awards.

Board members — all young volunteers for philanthropic and social service agencies and houses of worship — are being mentored by JFS executive director Tom Beck, Fred C. Rummel Foundation executive director Anne Marie Puleio, and Westfield community leader Darielle Walsh.

The grants will range from $500 to $1,500 and are for one-time, short-term projects; focus areas are food insecurity, technology/equipment, environmental issues, social service, and advocacy for impoverished and/or vulnerable populations.

Proposals need to demonstrate how the program will promote the health and social well-being of the agency’s constituents. Applicants must be nonprofit organizations, have strong board involvement, and demonstrate responsible financial stewardship.

The deadline for submissions is Monday, April 22; the awards will be announced May 20. To apply, contact WAYVE@jfscentralnj.org or go to bit.ly/2TNsDoX.
