Young community leaders to be honored

Lee Murnick and Ariel Nelson, this year’s recipients of the Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest NJ’s Julius and Bessie Cohn Young Leadership Award, will be honored at Great Balls of Fire! An Evening of Dinner, Drinks, and Dueling Pianos on Tuesday, April 19, at 7 p.m. at Club 4Sixty6 in West Orange.

The band Flying Ivories will perform.

The award, created by Julius H. Cohn in 1956, annually provides two young leaders of the federation and the community with additional leadership development opportunities.

Murnick, who lives in Manhattan, is chair of the federation’s Young Leadership Campaign. A graduate of federation’s 2012 Arthur Borinsky Young Leadership Development Program, she is a participant in the Wexner Heritage Program. A board member of the federation, its Women’s Philanthropy, and Jewish Community Foundation of Greater MetroWest NJ, she is also an active member of National Young Leadership Cabinet of Jewish Federations of North America.

Nelson, of Livingston, is treasurer and a trustee of JCF and a member of the federation’s Young Leadership Council. He also took part in the Borinsky and Wexner programs, has served as the Young Leadership Campaign’s chair and vice chair, and is a member of the federation’s Community Relations Committee. He is also treasurer of Synagogue of the Suburban Torah Center in Livingston.

Couvert is $50; a minimum gift of $118 (by individual or couple) is required to the 2016 UJA Campaign. Dietary laws will be observed.
