Virtual Holocaust Remembrance Day program
The Holocaust Museum & Center for Tolerance and Education in Suffern will hold a virtual program on January 26 at 6 p.m. to commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Ellen Germain, Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues at the U.S. Department of State, will discuss how Holocaust issues manifest themselves in foreign policy in many ways, ranging from restitution and compensation for Holocaust survivors to international efforts to counter Holocaust distortion and denial. Ms. Germain will talk about diplomatic efforts in these areas and how knowledge and understanding of the Holocaust informs current U.S. foreign policy.
Ms. Germain is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service and served as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo, Bosnia, and Herzegovina.
This program is organized by the Harriet & Kenneth Kupferberg Holocaust Center at Queensborough Community College.
