Defending government
Quoting the Founding Fathers is always suspect, usually offering simplistic solutions to complex problems.
In terms of government entitlements, the gap between the very rich and everyone else is greater than it has ever been. The government had to bail out the Big Three automakers and some banks because their failure would have caused millions of us to suffer. Without government we would have a crooked stock market, unsafe cars, unsafe food, unsafe working conditions, and a ruined environment. Quoting obscure 18th and 19th-century thinkers reminds me of William F. Buckley, who used such big words in defense of ideas that had no real substance.
