Florence Greenspan

Florence Greenspan, 85, of Princeton died Nov. 24, 2011. She was born in Delatyin, Ukraine.

At age 17, Mrs. Greenspan narrowly escaped the mass murder of Jews in her town by leaving on a business trip with her employer and his wife. Five years later she came to Munich, Germany, to locate her remaining relatives. There, she met her husband and they immigrated to the United States in 1949.

In the United States, she enrolled in night school to learn English. As her family grew, she became involved in her children’s educational institutions and was repeatedly honored for her work in promoting stronger parent/teacher involvement in the PTA. Through the years, she helped raise funds for Jewish Women’s International and Hadassah.

Predeceased by her husband, Abraham, in 1985, she is survived by her daughter, Marlene Glassman of Princeton; her son, Allen; and three grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 25 with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to B’nai B’rith Women, Hadassah, or Survivors of the Shoah Visual History Foundation.
