Hardly ‘illegal’

The “West Bank” is not “occupied” by Israel. (Letter, “Illegal, not disputed,” Dec. 10). The West Bank’s rightful name is Judea and Samaria. It was legally captured from Jordan, during the Six Day War of 1967. The so-called “Palestinians,” who are actually Arabs, ran to Judea and Samaria during the War of Independence, in 1948. During the 19 ensuing years between 1948 to 1967, not one of the 22  Arab countries in the Middle East lifted a finger to help their people, and allowed them to languish. A two-state solution was offered to the Palestinians a number of times, only to be rejected.

The Palestinians have proven over and over to this day that they are not interested in peace, and will never recognize Israel. They are currently stabbing, shooting, and mowing down any Israeli they see.
Back in 2005, Israel uprooted 10,000 Jews from Gaza only to have rockets rained down on Israeli cities soon after.

In a recent poll, nearly half of Israeli Jews agree that they do not believe that there will be peace or a two-state solution, in their lifetime.

Supporters of J Street should use their positions to counter the BDS movement, and the rising anti-Semitism in the U.S., and stop spouting off about an event that will not happen.
