Help for caregivers supporting Parkinson’s patients
Jewish Family Service of MetroWest NJ is launching a new in-person caregiver support group for adults who are caring for a loved one with Parkinson’s disease. The group is designed for spouses, adult children, and siblings who are seeking emotional support, practical coping tools, and connection with others who understand the day-to-day realities of caregiving.
Unlike many online or lecture-style Parkinson’s caregiver programs, the JFS group emphasizes face-to-face conversation, peer support, and community-building. Participants will have the opportunity to share both struggles and successes, learn effective caregiving strategies, and build relationships with others who are navigating similar challenges.
The group will be facilitated by a social worker who has specialized training in caregiving and group facilitation. Sessions will take place one Thursday each month in Florham Park; the address will be provided upon registration.
The free group meets on Thursdays from 1 to 2 p.m.; the dates are April 23, May 28, June 25, July 23, August 27, September 24, and October 22. Pre-registration is required. To register, email caregivers@jfsmetrowest.org or call (973) 637-1740.
