Honor for the rescuer
There is at the entrance to Little Tokyo in Los Angeles a life-size bronze statue of Chiune Sugihara himself (“Tangled roots: what’s become of the Sugihara Righteous Forest?” March 12). Each day hundreds of people stop and kiss his forehead in honor of the man who saved thousands of Jews during the Holocaust.
It is brutal that a handful of ungrateful Jews desecrated the forest in Israel dedicated in his honor for a few shekels.
