Jerome and Enid Rosenblum
Jerome Rosenblum, 92, of Boca Raton, Fla., died July 24, 2016, followed by his wife of 67 years, Enid (Roslyn) Rosenblum, 87, on Aug. 3, 2016.
Mr. Rosenblum was born in New Rochelle, NY, and raised in Brooklyn. A member of the U.S. Army Air Corps, he flew P-48 and P-51 Mustang fighter planes in the Air Force Reserve until 1957 when he received an honorable discharge. Mr. Rosenblum founded Abbe Lumber Corp. of Woodbridge in 1947 and served as its president until his retirement in 1994.
Mrs. Rosenblum was born and raised in Brooklyn, where she worked in the family business, Ginsberg’s Toy Store, and was a classically-trained opera singer.
The couple went on their first date in 1946 and were married in 1949.They were members of Temple Emanu-El of Westfield for 58 years and were original members of Shackamaxon Country Club, Scotch Plains. Mrs. Rosenblum participated in community theater and temple activities.
Predeceased by their son-in-law Herb Uiberall, they are survived by one son, Ken (Kathi); two daughters, Lynne Uiberall and Margie (Stuart) Oliver; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Paul Rachbach.
Mr. Rosenblum was buried with military honors July 28 at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Mrs. Rosenblum was buried beside him Aug. 7.
