Learn about JFS volunteer opportunities
Jewish Family Service of Central New Jersey’s Lavy House Live series presents “Volunteer Opportunities at JFS” on Wednesday, August 16, at 11 a.m., at the Lavy House in Westfield. The Lavy House monthly programs are geared to older adults –it’s an outreach effort of the JFS volunteer team to recruit volunteers 55+.
Participants will get an inside look into a variety of JFS volunteer opportunities for older adults through its partnership with AmeriCorps Seniors. The director of outreach and volunteers, Danielle McLeer; food pantry coordinator Kathleen Fernandez; and garden coordinator Evely Colon-Coleman will talk about their programs and offerings. AmeriCorps Seniors is a federally funded grant for the recruitment of volunteers 55 and older. Seniors volunteer for programs including helping with food pantries, community gardens, tutoring, and visiting programs.
JFS has many grants and funding sources. The program is funded by the Lavy House Senior Resource Center and the Standish Foundation.
Light refreshments will be served and parking is in Temple Emanu-El of Westfield’s lot. To register, email info@jfscentralnj.org, or call (908) 352-8375.
