Lenny Garrett, 85, of Jackson died Oct. 8, 2019. Born and raised in Newark, he lived in Union for 15 years and then Livingston for 35 years before moving to Jackson 12 years ago.
Mr. Garrett ran Harry Gross and Sons Beauty Supply with his father-in-law and later opened Things of Beauty, which had several locations. He was also owner and operator of Leness Beauty Supply in Livingston.
He attended the Manhattan School of Music.
He belonged to the Weequahic Sports Club and Maplewood Country Club, and volunteered his time playing the piano at a nursing home.
Predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Essie, he is survived by three daughters, Hildy (Michael), Nancy (Eric), and Caryn (Frank); siblings Bobbi and Rich; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and his partner, Natalie Bindler.
Services were held Oct. 10 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association.
