Margaret Rolnick
Margaret Kleinman Rolnick, 72, a longtime resident of Highland Park, died June 15, 2017. She was born in Manhattan and grew up in Queens before moving to New Brunswick. She also had spent vacations in the Adirondack Mountains and Long Beach Island.
Mrs. Rolnick worked as a medical social worker at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick, and became proprietor of Margaret’s Craft Shop on Highland Park’s Raritan Avenue in the 1990s, where she sold handmade items she curated from craft shows and eclectic artisans. Among the items she sold were fine wooden boxes that her husband made and she painted.
She went on to a second career as a management consultant, often working with her late mother, Gertrude Kleinman, providing corporate executives with assertiveness training for the workplace.
She attended New Brunswick public schools and received her B.A. from Douglass College of Rutgers University in 1968.
An avid gardener, she built and decorated trellises and garden furniture. She was also an artist, painter, and quilt-maker, making the chuppah for her son’s and daughters’ weddings and a tallit for her niece’s bat mitzvah. She enjoyed studying about Judaism, and she and her family wrote their own Passover Haggadah.
Predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Jerome (“Jerry”), she is survived by her son, Joshua Rolnick (Marcella Kanfer Rolnick); two daughters, Rebecca Rolnick-Fox (Brian Rolnick-Fox) and Jenn Rolnick Borchetta (Frank Borchetta); two brothers, Jonathan Kleinman and Lawrence Kleinman; two sisters, Toby Kleinman and Marsha Kleinman; and seven grandchildren.
Services were held June 18 with arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be sent to The Bronx Defenders (bronxdefenders.org); specify “Impact Litigation Practice.”
