Marjorie Levine
Marjorie Levine (Rubinstein), 96, of Roselle died Oct. 15, 2015. Born Margarette Jaqueline Rubinstein in Brooklyn, where she was raised, she lived on multiple U.S. bases with her husband, a dentist for the Army Air Corps, until moving to Roselle after World War II. She also had a summer log cabin in Butler.
Mrs. Levine worked as both office manager and assistant for her husband’s solo dental practice. She also helped out in the men’s clothing store owned by her in-laws Max and Clara Levine.
Among her many activities in later years, she played violin in a local community orchestra, sang with the Temple Beth-El Mekor Chayim choir in Cranford, and was a hunter of collectable antiques.
As a founding member of the Roselle-Cranford chapter of Hadassah, she was devoted to volunteer work for Hadassah Hospital in Israel. In 1991, she was named Northern NJ Hadassah Woman of the Year at the Myrtle Wreath Awards.
She is survived by her husband of 75 years, Arnold J., 100; her son, Stephen H. (Sharon) of Roselle; her daughter, Gail P. (Lance) Stockwell of South Lancaster, Mass.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 16 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Roselle-Cranford Hadassah or Alzheimer’s Association.
