Marvin Friedman

Dr. Marvin I. Friedman, 77, of East Brunswick died Dec. 26, 2012. He was born and raised in Woodbridge.

Dr. Friedman began his career in dentistry at Forbes Air Base in Topeka, Kansas, and continued on to a long career in Woodbridge. He volunteered his services to the Woodbridge school system and JFK Hospital in Edison.

He was a graduate of Woodbridge High School, where he was class vice president and a reunion committee member for the past 59 years. He continued his education at the University of Louisville and New York University School of Dentistry.

He was a talented drummer and longstanding member of The Imperial Band in South River. A golf enthusiast, he was a longtime member of Forsgate Country Club in Jamesburg. He also spent time pursuing his love of sculpting and modeling, often building detailed replicas of the Titanic, Taj Mahal, and many other well-known structures.

He was an active member of Congregation Anshe Emeth in South River until its closing. He then joined Congregation Beth Ohr in Old Bridge.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Sandra (Bloness); three sons, Barry (Lisa) Friedman of Westfield, Lonnie (Sara) Robinson of Hillsdale, and Steven (Beth) Robinson of Marlboro; two daughters, Marla Zucker of Warren and Amy Herrick of Bedminster; a sister, Helen Wishna of Tamarac, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 28 with arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to Middlesex Chapter, Brandeis National Committee’s Program on Sustaining the Mind, with checks made out to BNC, c/o Gayle Halbfish, 57 Buffalo Run, East Brunswick, NJ 08816; or Partners In Healing, with checks made out to Partners in Healing, c/o Dr. Michael Nissenblatt, Central Jersey Oncology Center (CJOC), J2 Brier Hill Court, East Brunswick, NJ 08816.
