Maurice Wolpert
Maurice “Leon” (Lee) Wolpert, 89, of Whippany died Sept. 30, 2015. Born and raised in Baltimore, he lived for over 40 years in the Brandywine Hundred area of suburban Wilmington, Del., moving to Whippany in 2005.
The bulk of Mr. Wolpert’s professional career was spent at Westinghouse Electric Corp., outside of Philadelphia, where he was involved in the design and engineering of complex steam turbine power generation systems.
He received his undergraduate degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1949 and an MS in metallurgical engineering from University of Pennsylvania in 1955.
A World War II veteran, he was honorably discharged in 1945.
He was at various times a member of Congregations Beth Shalom and Adesh Kodesh in Wilmington and Mikva Israel in Philadelphia.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Toby; his daughter, Susan (Steve Cooper); his son, Jan (Irene) of Chatham; two brothers, Henry and Fred; and four grandsons.
Services were held Oct. 4 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Atlantic Homecare and Hospice in Morristown; Montgomery Hospice in Rockville, Md.; Johns Hopkins University; or Ner Israel in Baltimore.
