Milton Nathanson
Dr. Milton Nathanson, 87, of Morris Plains died March 9, 2011. Born in Passaic, he lived in Newark and Englewood before moving to Livingston in 1956.
Dr. Nathanson graduated from high school at 15, and was an optician for several years before becoming a member of one of the first graduating classes at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where he was asked to start their honor society.
Upon graduation, he was a practicing optometrist until 1952, when he joined Universal Manufacturing Corporation in Paterson. He rose to become Universal’s vice president of sales and marketing before leaving in 1983 to open his agency, MN Electrical Sales, where he served as president.
In addition to being a lighting executive, he represented the National Lighting Association in Washington, DC, and was chairman of the Lighting Bureau.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Roberta; his daughter, Andrea Wallick of Short Hills; his son, Philip of Franklin, Tenn.; and two grandchildren.
Services were held March 11 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
