Netflix’s Jewish matchmaker headlining women’s gala 

Matchmaking celebrity Aleeza Ben Shalom of Netflix’s “Jewish Matchmaker” is the guest speaker at Mikvah Chana’s annual women’s gala on Wednesday, February 28, at LifeTown in Livingston. The evening begins with a VIP meeting for sponsors at 6:15 p.m.; appetizers at 7; the presentation at 8; and dessert and a raffle afterwards.

The program, co-chaired by Toba Grossbaum and Dara Orbach, will begin with prayers for the Israeli hostages in Gaza, the Israel Defense Forces, and for all of Israel. Then Ms. Ben Shalom, a relationship expert, dating coach, author, and host of her own Netflix series, will discuss the dating show and share some behind-the-scenes secrets.

The program also is the launch of a new MetroWest area shidduch (matchmaking) initiative. “The mikvah is the very foundation of Jewish family life,” Ms. Grossbaum said. “It is well known that there is actually a correlation between the mikvah and shidduchim. Anyone who helps or donates to a mikvah, receives special merit, including assistance finding one’s soulmate.”

The evening will include a dairy buffet and dessert bar and an auction featuring jewelry and silver Judaica, with more than 60 prize packages.

Mikvah Chana is one of the most luxurious Jewish ritual bath facilities in Essex County, serving more than 600 women annually. The facility also includes a men’s keilim mikvahs. The mikvah, which was built in 2006, is dedicated in memory of Annette Felsen.

“We dedicated the mikvah in memory of my dear great-grandmother, Annette Felsen, whose Hebrew name was Chana,” Ms. Orbach said. “My Nany, as we called her, was the matriarch and role model of our family, who taught us many invaluable life lessons in the nearly 100 years that she was blessed to be part of our lives. We are so happy that her spiritual legacy lives on through Mikvah Chana.”
