No answer
In response to Gilbert Kahn’s piece, “For every answer, Gaza raised another question,” (Nov. 28) what is the “peace process” which “must be considered”? At least three of the core issues are not subject to compromise by either party. So all that can be anticipated is a meeting which may result, at most, in the planning of yet another meeting.
At this time, Mahmoud Abbas is arranging reconciliation with Hamas and if successful could conceivably materialize in his replacement by Khalid Meshaal, who recently vowed to “free the land of Palestine centimeter by centimeter from the river to the sea and from the south to the north” with no concessions.
The hateful Hamas Covenant remains intact at this writing. There is even doubt as to the degree of revision to the PLO Covenant. One cannot help but recall Albert Einstein’s definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
There are other ideas which need to be explored more fully.
